4th G20 Health Working Group Meeting

The 4th G20 Health Working Group Meeting, held from 9–13 June 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, brought together global stakeholders to address pressing health challenges—including antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The Hub was honoured to participate and to co-host a technical event on AMR alongside the World Economic Forum, GARDP Africa, the South African Ministry of Health, University of Pretoria, and University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Throughout the week, the Hub contributed to key discussions and reaffirmed our support for collective global action. As AMR continues to rise, we see three critical priorities for the path forward:

  1. Integrate AMR into global health security and pandemic preparedness frameworks—with urgency and political will

  2. Accelerate innovative financing mechanisms to ensure equitable access to life-saving tools

  3. Strengthen coordination and accountability.The UN-mandated Independent Panel on Evidence for Action against AMR offers a timely opportunity to turn global commitments into measurable, evidence-based impact

We thank South Africa for its leadership in hosting this important meeting and look forward to supporting continued progress.
