Dr Lesley Ann Ogilvie
Director
Lesley Ogilvie is the Director of the Secretariat of the Global AMR R&D Hub, where she guides the Hub’s evidence generation and strategic direction and, together with her team, ensures that its insights strengthen global efforts to advance AMR R&D policy and coordination. Since taking up the role in 2023, she has worked closely with the Board and international partners to support the Hub’s mission and elevate One Health research priorities across the AMR landscape. Lesley brings a strong scientific foundation to the Hub’s work. She began her career as a microbiologist researching the human gut microbiome, holding postdoctoral and teaching positions in the UK and Germany, including at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics. Her work increasingly shifted toward the science–policy interface, focusing on improving evidence use in decision making and supporting more coherent global action on AMR R&D. She represents the Hub on advisory groups for WHO and the European Commission and contributes to discussions in fora such as the G7 and G20. She holds an MA in English & Philosophy, a BSc in Ecology, an MSc in Marine Sciences, and a PhD in Microbiology.
