One Health Summit 2026

From 5–7 April 2026, France hosted the One Health Summit in Lyon as part of its G7 Presidency, placing health at the centre of global political attention.

The Summit highlighted how closely human, animal, and environmental health are linked — from the food systems we rely on, to the water we drink, and the ecosystems that sustain us. Held on World Health Day – April 7th  – it also underscored the urgency of coordinated responses to shared global health challenges.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) featured prominently on the G7 agenda, with two dedicated panels involving health ministers and leaders of international organisations. Discussions reinforced the importance of a One Health approach and the need to ground action in scientific evidence, while strengthening cooperation across sectors and countries.

Across the Summit, a consistent message emerged: progress on AMR depends on turning knowledge into coordinated, practical action — and on strengthening the link between science, policy, and implementation.

The Global AMR R&D Hub was glad to receive the invitation to take part in the discussions in Lyon, with Director Lesley Ogilvie contributing to the exchanges on AMR and One Health priorities.

Engagement ahead of the Summit

Ahead of the event, the Hub also had the pleasure of welcoming Anthony Chaumuzeau, Secretary General of the One Health Summit 2026, to its offices in Berlin.

He shared the Summit’s ambition to accelerate the practical implementation of the One Health approach, with a focus on protecting human, animal, plant, and ecosystem health through actionable solutions.

The Hub presented its work on strengthening global cooperation in AMR research and development by providing data and analysis to support evidence-based decision-making and more effective investment.

The exchange highlighted a shared understanding: addressing AMR requires sustained collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and governance levels.

The Hub also met with Constant Pâris and colleagues from the French Embassy in Berlin, including Siegfried Martin-Diaz, Francis Bouyer, and Hugo Titeca, as well as Muna Abu Sin, AMR Ambassador at the German Federal Ministry of Health.
