Evidence for Action Dialogue on Antimicrobial Resistance

The inaugural Evidence for Action (E4A) Dialogue on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) was hosted by Hon. Dr. Chris Fearne MP, Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, chaired by Professor Dame Sally Davies, UK Special Envoy on AMR, and moderated by Professor Kevin Outterson, Professor of Law at Boston University and Executive Director of CARB-X.

The Global AMR R&D Hub’s Director of the Secretariat, Dr Lesley Ogilvie, travelled to Malta for the Dialogue which took place on the 6th and 7th of February 2024. Lesley gave a presentation of the Hub’s G7 and G20 activities and was a Table Lead for sessions which covered innovation, access, accountability, and political action.

The objective of the Dialogue was to identify the most pressing research questions from AMR champions in political and policy circles, and connect those questions with top-level researchers who could either point to existing data or trigger new research to fill the gaps. For this inaugural E4A Dialogue, the focus was on the most urgent research questions that could help mobilise political action to address the pipeline and access crisis of antibacterial products for human health.
