G20 Health Working Group Meeting in Brasília, Brazil
From April 8-11, the G20 Health Working Group convened in Brasília, Brazil uniting governments, international organizations, and global stakeholders to address critical health priorities and challenges. The Global AMR R&D Hub was privileged to participate in these vital discussions, featuring a plenary ‘follow-up’ session dedicated to our progress, impact, and future plans. This underscored the collective effort required to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a global health challenge.
Special thanks to Prof. Kevin Outterson from CARB-X for delivering an excellent keynote address to inaugurate our session, offering insights into the magnitude of the AMR R&D challenge and concrete suggestions for advancement. We are confident that Brazil’s G20 presidency will play a pivotal role in addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time, including AMR.
Furthermore, we are delighted to announce Brazil’s decision to join our Board of Members. As AMR remains a critical global health challenge, Brazil’s participation will undoubtedly bolster our collective efforts to combat this issue.
We eagerly anticipate collaborating with our newly appointed representatives Marilia Santini de Oliveira and Andre Abreu to drive meaningful action against AMR.
Empowered by this significant addition, the Hub remains steadfast in providing unwavering support to inform and guide decision-making processes across the push and pull spectrum moving forward!
