19.06.2020

It is our great pleasure to welcome the African Association for Research and Control of AMR (AAAMR)AdvaMedDxUNITAID and the World Farming Organization (WFO) as additional members of the Stakeholder Group that now consists of 20 members representing organisations from NGOs/civil society, industry, international research-funding initiatives and academia.

We are particularly excited as with the support of the new members we are achieving broader technical and geographic coverage that strengthens our work and help us realize our strategic goals.

AAAMR is composed of African experts and scientist in the fields of Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology and Virology that focus on AMR issues on the African continent encompassing all One Health sectors. AdvaMedDx is the world’s largest trade association representing medical diagnostics manufacturer and advocates for the power of innovative medical diagnostic tests and technologies that facilitate evidence-based medicine, enable early detection of disease, enhance patient health, and advance public health and have committed on diagnostics tests to fight AMR. The member-based association WFO brings together national farmers’ organizations and agricultural cooperatives from all over the world. As highlighted in their 2019 published ‘Policy on AMR use and resistance in livestock’ the importance of investments in research of new medicine and alternatives to medicine to treat animals in an effective way is well-aligned with the work of the Hub. And the international organization UNITAID which invests in innovations to prevent, diagnose and treat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria more quickly, affordably and effectively and also works on improving access to diagnostics and treatment for HIV co-infections such as hepatitis C and human papillomavirus (HPV).

The Stakeholder Group was established in early 2019 to provide input to our work and are offering  a voice of the different needs in the field of AMR R&D considering all One Health sectors. We are grateful for the members valuable contributions that have helped advancing the development of the Dynamic Dashboard and other areas of our work and we are looking forward to our continued collaboration.
