The Global AMR R&D Hub was delighted to be able to welcome its Board of Members, Observers and Stakeholder Group to its Annual Meeting 2023. It was our privilege to welcome board members from 17 countries, the European Commission, Wellcome Trust & Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Hub’s observers – World Health Organization, World Organisation for Animal Health, FAO, Africa CDC, OECD – as well as our Stakeholder Group, comprised of 20 organisations – to our Annual Board welcome held in Berlin.

The two-day meeting was expertly moderated by Joël Denis, Director General – Centre for Vaccine and Therapeutics Readiness at the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Hub’s acting Chair and featured an address from the Director of the Centre for Science and Environment and Global Leaders Group on AMR member, Sunita Narain. Sunita highlighted the current antibiotic development and access crisis and that we need co-ordinate and collaborate for meaningful action. See video here.

During the meeting, we engaged in in-depth discussions covering a wide range of topics across the push and pull spectrum, pushing forward the agenda for our working groups and mapping a path for action as we head towards the high level meeting on AMR at the United Nations General Assembly in 2024 – and beyond.

The foundational and crucial role of research and development, the importance of a One Health lens and our commitment to collaboration was at the heart of our deliberations.

Together, we stand united to drive change and make a profound impact in the global fight against antimicrobial resistance.

We thank all Members, Observers and Stakeholders for your continued support and trust in the Global AMR R&D Hub.
