13-14th October 2022
The Global AMR R&D Hub was delighted to be able to welcome its Board of Members, Stakeholder Group and Guest speakers to its Annual Meeting 2022. The meeting was held in the historic Harnack Haus in Berlin and was our first face-to-face meeting since 2019.
The meeting was moderated by the Chair (Eirik Bakka, Norway) and Vice Chair (Joël Denis, Canada) of our Board of Members and kick-started by an address from the Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, and Global Leaders Group on AMR member, Dr. Chris Fearne. Dr. Fearne reminded us of the scale of the AMR challenge and the importance of collaboration and co-ordination across the One Health spectrum in mitigating AMR. See video below.

All of us are in this together…
The Hub’s workplan for 2023-2024 and Working Groups were key features of the meeting, with focus areas, studies and collaborations discussed to ensure maximal impact and efficient use of resources. The Hub also hopes to expand its membership to ensure a more inclusive global reach and representation – watch this space!
The Hub’s Board of Members also had the opportunity to discuss its next steps with its committed Stakeholder Group, comprising 20 members representing organisations from NGOs/civil society, industry, international research-funding initiatives and academia. Our Stakeholder Group ensures that the different needs in the field of AMR R&D across all One Health sectors are given a voice.
Guest speakers at the Board Meeting included Dr. Silke Alt (DZIF) who provided an update on the work of the INCATE initiative, which focuses on accelerating the translation of academic innovation into industrial R&D projects through the formation of start-ups.
We had an intense 1.5 days of discussions and thank all our Board Members, Observers, Stakeholders and guest speakers for a truly engaging, motivating and inspiring meeting!
